X-Sure Zero™ FAQs
Want to know more about X-Sure Zero™? We’ve answered the most common questions about activating your FREE tyre protection, how the cover works, qualifying road hazard damage, waiting periods, claims and policy benefits. Browse the FAQs below to learn how X-Sure Zero™ helps keep you protected on every journey.
X-Sure Zero™ is complimentary tyre cover offered to qualifying Tiger Wheel & Tyre customers when they buy qualifying tyres.
It provides cover of up to R500 VAT inclusive per tyre for accidental and irreparable tyre damage caused by covered road hazards, subject to the policy terms, conditions, benefit limits and exclusions.
Yes. Tyre damage caused by potholes is included in the policy wording, provided the claim meets the policy terms and conditions.
Yes. X-Sure Zero™ is free for qualifying Tiger Wheel & Tyre customers, provided that the customer meets the activation and policy requirements.
The most important activation requirement is that you must register on the Tiger Wheel & Tyre App within 7 days from your tyre invoice date.
You must register your qualifying tyre purchase on the Tiger Wheel & Tyre App within 7 days from the invoice date.
If you do not register within this 7-day period, the Zero Tyre Insurance cover will not be valid.
The 30-day waiting period means that even though your policy may be active, no claim will be covered for tyre damage that happens during the first 30 days from the Policy Start Date.
For example, if your Policy Start Date is 1 March, damage that happens from 1 March to 30 March would not be covered. Cover would only apply to valid claim events after the waiting period has passed.
The cover is valid for 6 months from the Policy Start Date, unless it ends earlier in terms of the policy.
The policy may end earlier if, for example, a valid claim is made, the tyres are replaced and Tiger Wheel & Tyre is not informed, the vehicle changes ownership, or the policy is cancelled.
The policy covers accidental and irreparable tyre damage caused by road hazards, including:
| Covered damage type | Example |
| Sidewall tyre damage | Damage to the side of the tyre |
| Irreparable punctures | A puncture too large to safely repair |
| Pothole damage | Tyre damage caused by hitting a pothole |
| Uneven road surface damage | Damage caused by road surface irregularities |
| Road debris damage | Damage caused by glass, rocks, steel, wood or other debris |
The damage must fall within the policy wording and must be assessed as valid under the claims process.
Yes, but only if the puncture is too large to repair safely, in the opinion of Tiger Wheel & Tyre or the approved specialist.
If the tyre can be safely repaired, the policy will not cover a tyre replacement.
You get up to R500 VAT inclusive per insured tyre, subject to the policy benefit limits.
Your cover starts on the Policy Start Date shown on your policy schedule and is the same date as the invoice date that you purchased tyres on.
However, a 30-day waiting period applies, which means you are not covered for any loss, damage or claim event that happens within the first 30 days from the Policy Start Date.
Cover only applies within the borders of South Africa.
Claims for tyre damage outside South Africa are not covered.
The policy covers qualifying:
| Vehicle type | Covered? |
| Passenger vehicles | Yes |
| Light delivery vehicles | Yes, if used for normal social, domestic or business purposes |
| Vehicles used commercially | No |
| Taxis or e-hailing vehicles | No |
| Courier or delivery vehicles | No |
| Rental vehicles | No |
| Vehicles used to carry passengers for reward | No |
Vehicles used for normal business purposes may qualify.
However, vehicles used for commercial purposes are excluded. This includes vehicles used as a tool of trade, for deliveries, courier services, taxi services, e-hailing, rental, limousine services, or carrying passengers for reward.
No. Vehicles used for commercial purposes are excluded.
The policy wording specifically excludes vehicles used for courier or delivery work, rental, taxi, e-hailing, limousine services and other commercial travelling or tool-of-trade purposes.
No. Vehicles used as taxis, e-hailing vehicles, limousines, or to carry passengers for reward are excluded.
Lift clubs are excluded from this restriction.
To submit a claim, visit your nearest Tiger Wheel & Tyre store.
The store will assist with capturing and submitting the claim information to the administrator.
The following information may be required:
| Information required | Example |
| Policy number | Your Zero policy number |
| Photos of the damaged tyre | Images showing the damaged area |
| Photos or details of other tyres | Make, specifications and batch details |
| Incident details | Description of what happened |
| Tread depth information | Tread depth gauge photo or tyre retailer report |
| Odometer reading | Mileage at the time of the incident |
| Vehicle registration number | Vehicle licence plate |
| Replacement quotation | Quote for tyre replacement |
The administrator may request additional information if needed.
You must submit your claim within 30 days of the event that caused the tyre damage.
Claims submitted later than 30 days after the event may be rejected.
You should not start repair or replacement work before the administrator has authorised the claim, unless it is an emergency situation covered by the policy process.
The policy wording states that repair work started or carried out without prior written authorisation may invalidate the claim.
If emergency repairs are needed outside Tiger Wheel & Tyre trading hours, you should:
| Step | What to do |
| 1 | Take the vehicle to a recognised tyre retailer |
| 2 | Take photos of the damaged tyre, including the damaged area, sidewall and tread surface |
| 3 | Ask for the invoice to be made out in your name |
| 4 | Make sure the invoice includes vehicle details, registration number and VIN |
| 5 | Pay the tyre retailer directly |
| 6 | Lodge the claim with the administrator within 30 days of the event |
| 7 | Submit all required claim information |
If the claim is valid, reimbursement will be limited to the invoice value or the applicable policy benefit limit, whichever is lower.
No. Consequential losses are not covered.
For example, if your tyre is damaged on the way to the airport and you miss your flight, the policy may cover the valid tyre damage only. It will not cover the cost of the missed flight or other losses.
If you have an active X-Sure Tyre & Rim policy, the claim will first be assessed under that policy.
If the claim exceeds the available cover or falls outside the scope of that policy, the Zero benefit may then be applied where applicable.
You must take reasonable care of your tyres and vehicle. This includes:
| Responsibility | What it means |
| Maintain tyre pressure | Keep tyres inflated to the correct pressure |
| Rotate tyres | Rotate tyres according to manufacturer specifications |
| Use correct tyres | Tyres should match manufacturer specifications |
| Avoid further damage | Do not continue driving on a damaged tyre where avoidable |
| Provide accurate information | Give complete and truthful claim information |
Misrepresentation, fraud, non-disclosure or incorrect information may lead to claim rejection or policy cancellation.
The policy ends when any of the following happens:
| Ending event | Meaning |
| 6 months pass | Cover ends after the 6-month period from invoice date |
| A valid claim is made | The policy ends after a claim |
| The policy is cancelled | Cover ends on cancellation |
| Tyres are replaced without notifying Tiger Wheel & Tyre | Cover will end |
| Vehicle ownership changes | The policy ends if the vehicle is sold |
| Fraud is proven | Cover ends if fraudulent activity is committed |
No. If the insured vehicle changes ownership, the policy comes to an end.
The new owner would need to take out a new policy in their own name, by purchasing new tyres from Tiger Wheel & Tyre.
A customer can only have a maximum of 5 X-Sure Zero™ policies per invoice activate and can only have a maximum of 5 X-Sure Zero™ policies active at any given point in time. The newest policies will be activated.
All tyres purchased from Tiger Wheel & Tyre qualify for Zero policy cover, however, as the customer you must register in the app for Zero tyre insurance within 7 days of invoice.
The cover will not apply if the tyre no longer meets the required tread depth.
The policy wording states that the period of insurance is limited to the shorter of the policy period or the time when the tread is below 1mm, being the legal limit.
You may claim once during the 6-month cover period, subject to the applicable benefit limit and policy terms.
The Zero benefit is limited to one tyre per claim event, up to the applicable benefit limit. Each tyre is covered separately when purchased, this means each tyre has its own applicable policy number.
The policy wording states that the policy terminates after 6 months from inception or after you have claimed on the policy, whichever occurs first.
This means that once a valid claim has been approved and paid, the Zero policy comes to an end.
